The Friends of Chabot College, Office of Student Life and Student Senate is proud to provide over $150,000 worth of scholarships to Chabot College students during the 2023/24 Academic year.
Veterans’ Application must be submitted through the Chabot College Veteran’s Resource Center
Asian Pacific Islander Education Association (APIEA) Scholarship – 2 scholarship @ $500
Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship recognizes students with significant experience with Asian Pacific Islander community and culture, showing persistence in achieving their career and educational goals, and demonstrating a need for support in reaching their future goals.
Eligibility Criteria:
Barnes & Noble Scholarship – 4 scholarships @ $1,000 Chabot College Bookstore gift cards
Barnes and Noble is the world’s largest bookstore and the vendor responsible for managing the Chabot College Bookstore.
Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship is to provide Chabot College students with books and supplies.
Eligibility Criteria:
Mark L. Eisenberg Scholarship – 2 scholarships @ $500
Mark L. Eisenberg was a Chabot College alumnus who after facing a series of personal challenges found success as a local attorney.
Purpose:The purpose of this scholarship is to support students majoring in one of the STEM fields (Computer Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, Biology or Mathematics) with financial need.
Eligibility Criteria:
Fremont Bank Scholarship – 1 scholarship @ $1,000
Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship is to support students majoring in Applied Technology & Business.
Eligibility Criteria:
The Institute of Management Accounts (IMA) is a professional organization of accountants and financial managers. They would like to assist students in learning about the accounting and financial management profession, exploring career options, and building one’s résumé and professional network.
Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship is to support students majoring in Accounting.
Eligibility Criteria:
Dr. Glenn Leuning was a member of the Chabot College Counseling Division from 1964 to 1971. He was appointed Chairperson for the Humanities Department in 1971, and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1978. Dr. Leuning believes that all students who qualify should have the opportunity to attend college and receive the support of others.
Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship is to provide general support to Chabot College students who are transferring to a four-year-college.
Eligibility Criteria:
Miranda Lux was a 19th century woman whose legacy today is the foundation that bears her name. When she died in 1894, her will contained a provision for $500,000 to be invested in the perpetuation of students’ educational prospects in the world. Her generous legacy continues on.
Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship is to support Chabot College students, ages 18 to 22, who are in the early phase of their college studies.

Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize two EOPS students who are first generation college students and have overcome life’s obstacles to accomplish their educational goals.

Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize two Striving Black Brothers who have overcome the odds to accomplish their educational goals.
Eligibility Criteria:
Dr. Ellen LaFleur McIlroy taught English at Chabot College from 1966 to 1998. She earned her doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley. In addition to her scholarly work, she was the first female Episcopal priest to be ordained in the United States.
Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship is to provide support to Chabot College students, who are Language Arts major, and have accepted to an accredited four-year college.
Eligibility Criteria:
Edward and Donna Martins Scholarship – 5 scholarships @ $1,000
In 1961 distinguished local attorney Edward E. Martins was elected to the Board of Trustees for the South County Community College District, as it was called then. After one term, he relinquished his position because he believed that elective service ought to be circulated among the citizenry. Edward and his wife Donna (a Chabot College alumnus) have a deep commitment to Chabot students and their success.
Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship is to provide general support to Chabot students.
Eligibility Criteria:
OSHER Scholarship
Full-time (12 or more units per term) = up to $500/semester
Three-quarter-time (9 - 11.99 units per term) = up to $375/ semester
Half-time (6 - 8.99 units per term) = up to $250/semester.
Eligibility Criteria:
Peter Sategna and Del Della Dora were each veterans of World War II and they believed that all students ought to be able to achieve the highest level of education as they desire.
Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship is to support student veterans.

Natalie P. Silvka Scholarship – 1 scholarship @ $1,000
Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students with any legal assistance and other needs.
Eligibility Criteria:

Davida Scott has funded and named a scholarship in the memory of her friends Sylvia & Juan Espinoza. It is intended for students who have graduated from either Brenkwitz Alternative High School or the Hayward Community Day School, and enroll at Chabot College.
Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship is to provide books and school supplies for students graduated from either Brenkwitz Continuation High School or the Hayward Community School, and who will be attending Chabot College in the fall semester following high school graduation.

Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize four students who will be transferring to a 4-year college.

Purpose: The purpose of the fund is to help a veteran or active member from a branch of the United States Armed Forces continue their educational pursuits.

Purpose: The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize a Latina student who is committed to the community, to education, and to family.

Purpose: This scholarship, is to acknowledge the work and contribution made by Student Assistants at Chabot College. Only currently working Student Assistants may apply.

President’s Award for Student Leadership – 2 scholarships @ $1,000
Board of Trustees Award for Academic Excellence – 1 scholarship @ $1,000 - 3.5 GPA
Reed L. Buffington Scholarship for Outstanding Contributions to Chabot College – 1 scholarship @ $1,000
International Student Scholarship – 3 scholarships @ $1000
Additional Requirement - Please submit a copy of the first page of your I-20 immigration form issued by Chabot College.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award – 2 scholarships @ $1,000
Cesar Chavez Community Service Award – 2 scholarships @ $1,000
Student Athlete Scholarship – 2 scholarships @ $1,000
Additional Requirement - Statement letter from coach confirming “athlete” status
Student Veteran Scholarship – 2 scholarships @$1,000
Additional Requirement - U.S. Military Discharge Document or letter from the Chabot Veteran’s Affairs Office verifying Veteran status
Non-Traditional Student/ Returning Student Scholarship – 1 scholarship @ $1,000
Additional Requirement - College transcript must demonstrate a gap of at least two years in academic studies
Undocumented Student Scholarship – 3 scholarships @ $1000
(1 - AB540 recipient, 1- undocumented not receiving AB540, 1 - open) For students with Undocumented status, AB540, and DACA recipients.

Student Senate Scholarship – 20 scholarships @ $500 (Chabot Bookstore gift card)
